Dr. Sparks was born and raised in Forest City and attended the University of Scranton where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology. He continued his education at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University in Philadelphia where he completed multiple rotations in primary and specialty eye care. In addition to his externships at The Eye Institute of The Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University, Dr. Sparks received exemplary clinical training from the Veterans Health Administration in Charlotte, NC, and private practices in both Washington DC, and Scranton, PA.
Dr. Sparks has an interest in specialty contact lenses, which are used to treat certain conditions such as Keratoconus, corneal transplants, and severe dry eye disease. He successfully completed a program for Advanced Studies in Contact Lenses at Salus, where he learned how to treat and manage ocular diseases and conditions through specialized contact lenses. Dr. Sparks is excited to bring his expertise in this technology to the residents of Northeast PA.
When not in the office Dr. Sparks enjoys spending his time outdoors. During the winter you can find him skiing and snowmobiling, and during the warmer months he enjoys golfing, hunting and riding his motorcycle.
Dr. Sparks specializes in specialty contact lens fittings, but also focuses on primary care optometry, glasses and soft contact lens fittings, pre and post-operative care, including LASIK, cataract surgery, diabetic and ocular disease management as well as management of glaucoma and other ocular conditions. He sees patients at both the Honesdale and Dingmans Ferry locations.
